In 1896, entrepreneur Emilio Ortega came to Anaheim, California to start a cannery and brought with him his prized pepper variety, which soon became known and loved as the Anaheim pepper.
Vigorous, bushy, upright plants produce tapered, dark green fruits that grow to an average length or 7 inches and turn red when mature.
Moderately hot (2000 Scoville heat units) and excellent for canning, drying, or using fresh.
