Anise is an annual herb native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean where it was once cultivated by the ancient Egyptians as far back as 1500 BC!

Plant grows to about 18 inches in height and produces umbels of lacy white flowers in mid to late summer.

Seeds can be used as whole or crushed in a variety of baked goods and cheeses, while the flowers and leaves are excellent when tossed into fruit salads or used as a garnish.
