Cucurbita maxima. 120 days. Open-pollinated.

Mammoth Gold is a large open-pollinated, heirloom pumpkin variety dating back to the late 1800s.
Long trailing vines produce irregular-shaped fruits that average 40 to 60 pounds each, but which can grow as large as 100 pounds when pruned to 1 to 2 fruits per plant and fertilized!

The fruit's thick skin is a lovely pinkish-orange color with slight ribbing, making Mammoth Gold an excellent choice for carving jack-o-lantern. The flesh, which is firm and sweet, is great for canning or making pumpkin pies.

Transplant outdoors once soil temperatures are 60°F or higher by planting the seedlings in a location with full sun and rich soil. Space plants 8 to 10 feet apart in rows 10 to 12 feet apart.
