Purple Tomatillo is an open-pollinated variety native to Central America and a staple of Mexican and Guatemalan cuisine.


Plant grows to around 3 to 4 feet in height and produces an impressive number of purple-skinned fruits that develop in a protective husk.


Purple tomatillos have a sweeter, fruitier flavor than their green cousins and are excellent for eating straight off the vine or chopped and mixed with other varieties to make salsas, stews, and chutneys.
