Satureja hortensis. 70 days. Open-pollinated.
Summer Savory is an annual herb with a peppery scent and taste.
An essential component in Herbs de Provence, it is also a great choice to use alone to season beans, meat, stuffing, and stew. A single savory plant can season an entire summer's worth of dishes as new leaves will begin to grow nearly as quickly as you can harvest them!
Grows to 1 to 2 feet in height and 3 to 6 feet in width. Harvest stems when needed for seasoning to promote new growth and prevent flowering, which slightly diminishes savory's flavor.
Makes a great companion plant to tomatoes since both enjoy the same soil and growing conditions!
