Origanum Majorana. 90 days. Open-pollinated.
Sweet Marjoram is a cold-sensitive, perennial herb with a similar—though more delicate—flavor to oregano.
The pale-green, low-growing plant produces spiked purple flowers that are a favorite of honeybees and other pollinators.
While often grown for flavoring meats, soups, and oils, Sweet Marjoram has also been used in traditional herbal medicine to soothe runny noses and coughs, and to aid in digestion.
Plant spreads easily. Trim back after flowering to encourage growth of new, tender leaves and stems. Harvesting of leaves can begin in as little as 6 to 8 weeks.
